Saga Dawa Festival in Kailash 2015

Saga Dawa Festival in Kailash Saga Dawa festival is one of the main festival of Tibetan Buddhist. It is held every year on the full moon day( in the name of Lord Buddha Birthday) of the fourth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar. It is also the day when Sakyamuni Buddha got enlightenment. Each year thousands of people from all over Tibet gather at Darboche at the base camp of Mount. Kaialsh. On that day to attach their prayer flags they bring from home. Tibetan pray and erect the huge flagpole on the Kailash Kora. The whole ceremony is led by a Tibetan Lama from the nearby monastery. Hours before the actual rising of the flagpole from the ground, people circumambulate the flagpole and pray and throw ‘windhorses’ (little pieces of coloured paper with buddhist scriptures on them) into the air. They help to remove last years prayer flags and attach new ones. We also can participate on this festival. On this festival the local Tibetan play local music. Trip day to day itinerary

25- May 2015: Kathmandu Arrival/ We pick you up at airport and transfer you to hotel./ Overnight at hotel.

26- May 2015: Tibet permit/visa preparation day. Half day sightseeing around Kathmandu.

27- May 2015: Drive to Kodari boarder. Cross friendship bridge and drive to Nyalam for Distance158km, Altitude 3700m / Overnight at Guest house.

28- May 2015: Rest at Nyalam for acclimatization. / Overnight at Guest house

29- May 2015: Drive to New Dongba /Distance 356km, Altitude 4600m Overnight at Guest house or camping.

30- May 2015: Drive to Manasarovar Distance 280km, Altitude 4588m Overnight at Guest house or camp.

31- May 2015: Drive to Darchen /Distance 45km, Altitude 4700m/ Overnight at Guest house or camping.

01- June 2015: Explore Saga Dawa Festival at Tarboche. Trek to Derak puk Distance 20km,Time 6hours, Altitude 4900m / Overnight Guest house or camping.

02- June 2015: Trek to Zutual puk 18km Time 7-8 hours and drive to Manasarovar, Alittude 4700m Overnight at Guest house or camping.

03- June 2015: Trek to Darchen Darchen 14km, Time 3-4hours and drive to Drongba Distance 380km Altitude 4450m Overnight at Guest house.

04- June 2015: Drive to Nyalam Overnight at Guest house.

05- June 2015: Drive back to Kodari boarder (Nepal-China boarder) and drive to Kathmandu / Ovenight at Hotel.

06- June 2015: Drive to international airport to fly back to next destination or stay as long as you wish

Note: There are two kinds of package we sell. One is full board basis i.e. we prepare and serve breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Where as we also run the package on BB plan i.e. we provide bed and breakfast.)
